The Victorian Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union has 3 job vacancies for industrial officers and organisers available.

The National Tertiary Education Union nationally covers over 27,000 members employed in universities and other higher education institutions. Over 9,000 members are covered by the Victorian Division in universities, associated companies, TAFE general staff, student unions and other higher education institutions.

VACANCIES - NTEU VICTORIAN DIVISION

SENIOR INDUSTRIAL OFFICER

The NTEU Victorian Division has a vacancy for a Senior Industrial Officer. This is an on-going full-time position, based in the NTEU Victorian Division Office in Clarendon St South Melbourne.

The successful applicant will be able to manage and determine priorities and initiate action around a range of industrial tasks. The position will provide leadership and coordination of other employees and provide detailed strategic and policy advice to the Union leadership.

Essential requirements include:

· Significant industrial and/or relevant legal experience;

· Demonstrated leadership skills and/or staff management experience;

· Demonstrated strategic development capacity with substantial track record

· Industrial and campaigning experience including development of policies, strategies and priorities, as well as dealing with complex industrial relations matters;

· Excellent written and oral communication skills;

· A commitment to the aims of trade unionism.

The full-time salary will be in the range of $73,869 - $80,611 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions are comparable with those for NTEU members in the industry.

BRANCH INDUSTRIAL ORGANISER (2 POSITIONS)

The NTEU Victorian Division has two vacancies for Branch-Based Industrial Organisers. These are on-going full-time positions, based at one of the following Victorian universities:

University of Melbourne Monash University

Deakin University Victoria University of Technology

RMIT University Central Victoria

Swinburne University

The successful applicants will, under direction, take responsibility for the completion of assigned organising, campaign, representation, industrial and administrative tasks or projects. The position will work directly with the respective Branch Officers, and Branch Committees, and relevant Victorian Division and National Office Staff. The positions will be responsible to the Victorian Division Secretary.

Essential requirements for the positions include a commitment to, and experience in, the trade union movement, and excellent communication skills. Experience in preparing industrial, recruitment and organising campaigns is desirable.

The full-time salary will be in the range of $50,565 - $62,583 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions are comparable with those for NTEU members in the industry.
