Kemalex workers need your help

Workers at Kemalex Plastics in Dandenong South have been protesting for the past two weeks and they need your help.

Their employer is attempting to force them to become "independent" contractors and lose their status as employees, and all the basic rights and conditions that come along with that. All the rights and conditions that most workers enjoy.

They will lose things like their leave entitlements (ie sick leave, annual leave, long service leave) and, employer superannuation contributions; and they'll have to register themselves as a small business, even though they work on a factory production line.

They are on minimum Award wages, and extremely aggressive tactics (including masked men on motorbikes)have been used in the past 11 days to try to defeat them.

The workers are at the protest line day and night, trying to defend their jobs and would appreciate any support the local community could give them.

Even if you could just stop in and have a chat for an hour or so, it would make a huge difference to these workers.

Kemalex Plastics is at the corner of Greens Road and Tatterson Road, Dandenong South.
