On Monday 28 November at 8.30am a cavalcade comprising of of a mini-bus and then union cars left the Melbourne Trades Hall building in Lygon St, Carlton.
VTHC Secretary, Brian Boyd, prior to the departure, addressed the union organisers and activists participating in the three-week tour, emphasising the trade union movement was not going to let up on its total opposition to John Howard's extremist Industrial relations legislation.  In particular ,the VTHC Secretary acknowledged that the ball was in the trade union movement's court, in terms of keeping the IR issue alive over the next 2 years in the lead up to the next Federal election in 2007.
"We can't rest on our laurels over what we have achieved so far in 2005.  The struggle for justice for Australian workers will be a long one and going to regional and country Victoria will send a signal that we are fighting for not just the organised workforce but the whole community."
