VTHC Council Elections
The 2005 Victorian Trades Hall Council Elections were conducted at the Council Meeting on 5th May. New leadership was chosen with Brian Boyd elected as Secretary, Nathan Niven re-elected as Assistant Secretary and Peter Marshall (UFU) elected as VTHC President.
Secretary Brian Boyd said in his election victory acceptance speech that the highest priority for the VTHC and the union movement was fighting the Howard Governments war on workers. The inevitable changes coming after June 30 this year represent the biggest direct assault on the union movement by conservative Governments. Secretary Boyd encouraged all unions and unionists to participate in the National Week of Action including the June 30 Stop Work & Rally in Melbourne commencing 10:00 am at Trades Hall in Lygon Street, Carlton.
