HIGH COURT DECISION NO SURPRISE - CAMPAIGN TO DEFEND WORKERS’ RIGHTS TO GO

The High Court decision today, on the validity of John Howard’s use of the Constitution’s Corporations power for his draconian Industrial Relations Laws, will be a great fillip for the trade union movement’s ongoing defence campaign, according to the Victorian Trades Hall Council.
Mr Brian Boyd, VTHC Secretary said today: “We will be more determined than ever to see John Howard’s I.R. Laws ripped up with the mass mobilisation organised at the MCG on November 30, being our next focal point”.
“The trade union movement has never been hanging its hat on the High Court case.
“The issue of winning a fair Industrial Relations system in Australia, will only be won through ongoing political and industrial campaigning, for however long it takes," said Mr Boyd.
“We are well aware that the ball is in our court, in terms of keeping this important issue in the public arena,” concluded Mr Boyd.
