Howard hears what workers really think of him and his laws

200 people from across the community hurled abuse and booed the Prime Minister, John Howard, as he stepped from his car to attend a meet and greet at Bannockburn on Monday 24 July.
People called him a liar and chanted for him to get out of office. The protesters included unionist, environmentalist, pensioners, anti-war activists and people generally opposed to the Liberal government.
Howard seemed embarrassed by the large crowd of protesters and did not acknowledge their presence with the usual smirk and wave.
Tim Gooden, Geelong Trades Hall Secretary, said. “This is what Australians really think of Howard and the Liberal laws.  Inside are the screened invitees for the show but out here the reality is that people are angry with the lies and deceit of the government and have come out to show their disgust at how the government is slowly destroying the family lives of ordinary Australians.  This is the sort of protest that will haunt the Liberals in the lead up to the next election, which I am sure they loose.”
