Queensland unions seek cyclone donations

Queensland unions are calling on their interstate comrades to contribute to a donation to the cyclone appeal following the destruction wreaked upon the north of the state by Cyclone Larry.
The Queensland Council of Unions are seeking written pledges from unions by Monday 27 March.
Several building and construction unions are about to undertake a two-week regional tour of Queensland to spread the message about the Federal Government's extreme industrial laws. The tour will commence on Monday 27 March and was to take in Innisfail, however, with the devastation left behind by Cyclone Larry, alternative arrangements have now been made.
These arrangements will include an announcement in Cairns by these unions of a monetary donation to the cyclone appeal to which the QCU will be contributing. In an effort to boost the amount of the donation in time for the announcement in Cairns, we are urging the union movement to play its role in the fundraising appeal campaign.
Due to time constraints, this will need to be done via a written pledge (either email or fax) to the QCU so that the total amount donated by the union movement can then be forwarded to the building unions by Monday 27 March in time for the media announcement.
Unions should then forward their donations to the QCU where it will then be on-forwarded to the cyclone appeal fund.
