VTHC kicks – off anti-federal IR Laws campaign with delegates rally and march through the city

Tomorrow, Wednesday 29th March 2006, sees the Victorian trade union movement lift its campaign against John Howard’s IR laws to a higher level.
All unions are sending their shop stewards and delegates to a mass meeting at:

10.00am
Wednesday 29th March 2006
Dallas Brooks Hall
Victoria Pde
East Melbourne

This will be followed by a march through the city to the Liberal Party Headquarters at 104 Exhibition St

Melbourne.
VTHC Secretary, Mr Brian Boyd said today: “The mass meeting and march is timely as the Howard government’s draconian and extreme I.R. laws have kicked in this week.
“We will be putting to the delegates to go back to their workplaces and communities to promote the huge national stopwork and rally planned for Wednesday 28 June.
“2006 is the year of the hard slog in terms of the campaign against the IR laws."
“We need to maintain our presence on the streets of Melbourne and also hold the line in our workplaces, in order to build the campaign to get rid of the Howard government in 2007”, added Mr Boyd.
