Bill McHarg and Bennelong - 5 December 2007
Last week climate change activist and Melbourne businessman Bill McHarg dropped by the Trades Hall in his Climate Change protest van (see photo). He met VTHC Secretary, Brian Boyd and VTHC Campaigns Officer Mike Sutherland.The van, emblazoned with: “Bennelong Vote – Planet First, Howard Last” and “Global Warming – Howard Failed” the van spent the last weeks of the formal election campaign (prior to the 24/11) travelling the length and breadth of the Prime Minister’s electorate. A blaring kookaburra laugh was the signature call on the main roads and in the shopping centre car parks.
Bill reported his efforts were well received and the fact that the Prime Minister went on to lose his seat was an added bonus. Check www.you.tube.com and search “Bill McHarg Climate Change”.
