Iranian Trade Union Leader sentenced to 5 years jail

At VTHC Executive Council today (7/12/07) a Resolution was passed unanimously by Executive Officers in support of Iranian Trade Union Leader, Mansour Osanloo recently sentenced to 5 years jail.
 
The Resolution is as follows:
 
"That this meeting of VTHC condemns the 5 year jail sentence imposed on Iranian trade union leader Mansour Osanloo as the President of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherbet-e Ahead) trade union has endured sustained attacks upon himself, other officials of the union and its members by the Iranian government in direct contravention of the rights of workers to belong to a trade union.

This meeting calls for the release from prison of Mansour Osanloo and demands a halt to the campaigns of intimidation and harassment being carried out by the Iranian authorities against officials, members and their families of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherbet-e Ahead).

This meeting sends our fraternal greetings to Mansour Osanloo and all members and officials of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherbet-e Ahead)."
