Eighty-eight year old Marcella Pearce made an impromptu visit to Trades Hall on Friday 7th December 2007.
Marcella was the daughter of the first live-in caretaker at Trades Hall, John Joseph Bell (“Joe Bell to all who knew him”) during the period 1926-1945.

Joe Bell and his family lived in the caretaker’s cottage on the roof of Trades Hall.  He died in 1966.  His ashes were scattered from the red flag on the roof of Trades Hall.  His ghost is rumoured to still haunt the building.

In 1997 Marcella Pearce wrote and published a book called “Trades Hall Memories”.

She briefly addressed the VTHC Executive Council that was having its last meeting for 2007.

Marcella grew up in Trades Hall, got married here and raised her family at the cottage.  She now lives in a retirement village in Bendigo.
