Part-Time OHS Position available

The United Firefighters Union of Australia (Victorian Branch) wishes to appoint a Health and Safety Representative Support Officer on a part-time (3 days per week) basis for a fixed term of 2 years.
Duties will include:

· Liaising with and providing support, information and advice to Health and Safety Representatives
· Collating, filing and organising data and other information and resources
· Maintaining the OHS section of the UFU website and various databases
· Undertaking research into current and emerging health and safety issues in the firefighting industry
· Preparing written reports and assisting in producing publications
· As this position arises out of a grant for funding provided by Worksafe Victoria, ensuring the UFU maintains its reporting obligations under its Funding Agreement with Worksafe
· Other administrative duties as required

To be successful in this position, applicants should have:
· Knowledge of occupational health and safety, including knowledge and understanding of Victorian occupational health and safety legislation, Compliance Codes and Australian Standards
· Ability to provide information and advice to HSRs on the application of the OHS Act
· Ability to establish networks to assist HSRs to understand their role and rights under  the OHS Act
· Ability to work with key stakeholders including HSRs, the UFU and Worksafe Inspectors
· Program management skills, including the development and implementation of agreed plans

Other relevant information:
· Knowledge of the firefighting industry will be an advantage
· Some desktop publishing skills will be useful
· Relevant qualifications in OHS will be highly regarded
· A current driver’s licence is required

Will report to: Branch Secretary and Office Manager

Work location: Primarily at the UFU office
