VTHC current EBA commencement salary for Non-Elected Officer (NEO), plus generous terms and conditions.
This 3 year position (subject to funding) will be responsible for the VTHC’s ongoing work with affiliates in this important area with VWA support. The successful applicant will be part of the VTHC's general services to the trade union movement.
 
The Selection Criteria includes extensive experience and/or tertiary qualifications in:
1. OH&S, Worker’s Compensation and Return to Work.
2. Project work and management.
3. Ability to work within strict timelines and budget.
4. High level consultation with a diverse range of unions.
5. Research and report writing.

A commitment to trade unionism and possession of a Victorian driver’s licence is essential.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:  WorkCover/ Compensation and Rehabilitation Liaison Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: On a day-to-day basis, the Project Officer is accountable to the VTHC Executive Council and has overall responsibility to the VTHC Secretary.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direction of the VTHC Secretary, the Liaison Officer will amongst other things:
· Effect participation for the VTHC through its representatives on the VWA’s Health and Safety Working Group or its successors, Rehabilitation and Compensation Working Group, Major Hazards Advisory Committee and other forums as required by the Authority;
· Consult with union representatives and employees, including through the VTHC OHS Committee and VTHC WorkCover Committee on occupational health and safety workers compensation and Return to Work Issues.
· Disseminate to affiliates and employees through Victoria information concerning occupational health and safety, workers compensation and rehabilitation and Return to Work.
· Develop and coordinate input from affiliated unions and from employees to the Victorian WorkCover Authority, including strategies that will advance these issues overtime.

HOURS  This is a full-time 3 year fixed term position.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

· Maintain an awareness of current and emerging trends in Occupational Health and Safety, Accident Compensation (WorkCover) and Occupational Rehabilitation
· Undertake personal and professional development to retain up-to-date knowledge and skills
· Interest and commitment to trade unionism
