THE VICTORIAN TRADES HALL COUNCIL OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING CENTRE

The VTHC Occupational Health and Safety Training Centre is committed to offering the highest standards of training at the most competitive rate.

The Centre provides a comprehensive training service for employee health and safety representatives, managers, supervisors and employees.

The Centre, established in 1983, has provided training to almost 40,000 health and safety representatives and others.

Our program is delivered in many metropolitan areas and throughout country Victoria.

THE TRAINING PROGRAM

The program includes -

  • Basic training for health and safety representatives, under State and Commonwealth OHS legislation. These are 5 day courses.
  • Refresher training for OHS representatives (for Victorian reps, this training will re-commence after July 1, when the new Act comes into effect).
  • Training for managers, supervisors, Committee members, OHS coordinators and safety officers.
  • Manual Handling
  • Hazard specific Seminars/Body Mapping
  • Health and Safety Representatives have a right to attend the 5-day Basic Course of their choice on paid leave under Section 31(2)(d) of the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 1985.

Delivery of a course at your workplace can be a less expensive and more convenient option. It ensures issues of interest to your organisation are covered comprehensively. On-site training can include:

  • Representative training
  • Manual Handling
  • 2-day course for Managers, Supervisors, OHS coordinators and Committee members.

To attend a course you simply need to fill out the application form nominating the course of your choice and either fax it or send it to the Centre.

MANUAL HANDLING COURSE

This accredited one-day Manual Handling training course is approved under Section 31(2)(d) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1985. It is specifically designed to provide health and safety representatives with information and skills to effectively participate in programs at their workplace.

  • The human body and manual handling
  • Case studies

Through an understanding of the Manual Handling Regulations, participants will be better able to identify manual handling injuries and to seek solutions to identified problems.
